How is Fairy Hair put in?

Fairy Hair is applied by hand using a special technique that ties ultra-fine sparkle strands directly to a single strand of your natural hair.

Each application begins by selecting an individual hair strand. A tiny knot is then carefully tied near the scalp using one or more strands of Fairy Hair tinsel. Because the tinsel is attached to your actual hair—not glued, clipped, or bonded—it moves naturally with your hair and feels lightweight and comfortable.

As your natural hair grows and eventually sheds, the Fairy Hair strand sheds with it. This means your sparkle can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on your hair's natural growth cycle and how you care for it.

The tinsel is heat-safe and shower-proof, so you can wash, brush, curl, and straighten your hair as usual while enjoying your sparkle.

Fun Fact: At Enchanted Fairy Hair, each knot contains two strands of sparkle. That means:

10 knots = 20 strands

15 knots = 30 strands

20 knots = 40 strands

The more knots you add, the fuller and more magical your sparkle becomes!

 

How long does Fairy Hair take to put in?

Depending on your hair type each strand can take 2-4 minutes. 

 

How long will Fairy Hair last?

Fairy Hair can last anywhere from a few days to several months, depending on your natural hair growth cycle, hair type, and how well the strands are cared for.

Because Fairy Hair is individually tied to a single strand of your natural hair, it stays in place until that hair naturally sheds. Most people enjoy their sparkle for 2–8 weeks, though some strands may last even longer.

Hair type matters. Clients with thicker, stronger hair often experience longer-lasting results. On very fine hair, delicate hair, or children's hair, Fairy Hair may not last as long because those hairs tend to be finer and may shed more easily. It's normal for some sparkle strands to come out sooner in these hair types.

To help your Fairy Hair last as long as possible:

Brush your hair gently.

Avoid pulling or tugging on the sparkle strands.

Wash and style your hair as usual.

Use curling irons, straighteners, and blow dryers on moderate heat (Fairy Hair is heat-safe).

Since each strand is attached to a different hair, some sparkles may shed sooner than others, creating a natural, scattered sparkle effect over time.

The best part? Even when a few strands shed, you'll still have plenty of sparkle left. Many clients return every few weeks for a touch-up to keep their hair looking magical year-round.

Can I wash my hair with Fairy Hair?

Yes! Fairy Hair is shower-proof and can be washed just like your natural hair. Shampoo, condition, and style as usual. Gentle brushing and care will help your sparkle last longer.

Can I use heat tools on Fairy Hair?

Yes! Our Fairy Hair is heat-safe, so you can curl, straighten, and blow-dry your hair. We recommend using moderate heat settings, just as you would to protect your natural hair.

Will Fairy Hair damage my hair?

No. Fairy Hair is tied to a single strand of your natural hair and does not require glue, beads, clips, or chemicals. It sheds naturally when the hair it is attached to sheds.

What hair types work best for Fairy Hair?

Fairy Hair works on most hair types and textures. However, hair should be long enough to tie the sparkle strand securely. Very fine, delicate, or children's hair may not hold Fairy Hair as long as thicker hair.

How many knots should I get?

The number of knots depends on how much sparkle you'd like.

10 knots (20 strands): Subtle sparkle

15 knots (30 strands): Noticeable sparkle

20 knots (40 strands): Full sparkle effect

30+ knots: Maximum fairy magic

What should I do before my appointment?

Please arrive with clean, dry hair that is free of heavy oils or styling products. This helps us apply your Fairy Hair quickly and securely.

What if my Fairy Hair falls out?

Because Fairy Hair is tied to your natural hair, it will eventually shed when that hair sheds. Some strands may come out sooner than others, especially in fine or children's hair. This is completely normal.

How long does my hair need to be?

For Fairy Hair to be tied securely, your natural hair should be at least 4 inches long (beards too). If you're unsure whether your hair is long enough, feel free to send a photo before booking and we'll be happy to help.
